Sam Querrey's 2024 Wrapped delivers plenty of laughs
If social media isn't your thing, then the term “wrapped” might be foreign to you.
But fret not, let me explain.
The music streaming platform, Spotify, compiles data associated with songs, artists, and playlists from listeners all around the world to create an annual interactive experience that summarizes a user's listening habits for the year.
This is known as Spotify Wrapped, which showcases your top five artists, the top five songs you listened to, how many minutes you listened, how many songs you skipped, etc.
Then, subscribers receive a nifty graphic to share on their social media platforms to show off their impeccable music taste.
Needless to say, “wrapped” has evolved into a larger trend. People are sharing their “2024 dating wrapped” or their “movies watched wrapped” where they share highlights, lowlights, and often humorous data from their year.
Social media humorist and pro pickleball player, Sam Querrey, got involved in the trend. He shared his personal 2024 wrapped on social media complete with a slideshow presentation.
It starts off with pickleball matches played – 25.
“But we don’t need to go into the total win/loss record. But just know, I played 25 matches,” said Querrey.
Then, he jumps into Achilles torn – 1.
In May, Querrey ruptured his Achilles, which sidelined him for the rest of the season.
“Shocking news in the pickleball world. People were crying, the sport has not been the same since,” he wrote in a completely serious tone.
Number of modeling photoshoots – 2.
Both were hilarious recreations of Genie Bouchard shoots on social media that got the pickleball world laughing for days on end.
“That is also the same amount of times my wife threatened to leave me after doing these modeling shoots,” he said.
Number of times my wife has told me she’s ashamed I play pickleball – 8.
“That is actually up 25% from 2023,” he mentioned.
Coming from a pro tennis background, Querrey is unapologetic and loves to poke fun at himself for making the switch from tennis to pickleball.
He also had several other points, all with the same humor and wonderfully dry delivery to make his 2024 wrapped one to remember. At the end, he even included his top three compliments that he received:
- 1. “I never realized you were so funny. You were so boring when you played tennis.”
- 2. “Sam talks so much sh*t but I can’t help but listen.”
- 3. “Sam is the best tennis player on social media.”
It’s so delightful to see the pros in these humorous, honest, and entertaining ways. And Querrey definitely has one of the funniest social media platforms among them.
Now I’d just love to see a collaboration involving him and Greg Dow. Can you imagine the silliness those two would cook up? It would be spectacular.
