This tournament will go down in pickleball fashion history as the tournament with the bucket hats. Anna Bright and Dekel Bar made waves when they sported bucket hats in mixed doubles and I think that’s a pretty good thing to remember about the Mesa tourney. That and all the upsets. But we’re here for fashion.

So, here’s the best dressed pros from the Carvana Mesa Cup presented by Proton. 

Dekel Bar and Anna Bright

We simply cannot start anywhere but the bucket hats. While they didn’t wear them while playing their matches, Bright and Bar wore these fun hats to warm up before every match. According to Bright, they were Bar’s idea. The hats add playfulness on the court and provide sun protection – what a win. 

Gabe Tardio

If there is one thing I love in men’s pickleball fashion, it’s a monochromatic look. Meaning the same color shirt and shorts. And this baby blue ensemble is a stand out look from Tardio. Normally a sporty and reserved player when it comes to his fashion, this color is a welcome surprise. 

Vivian Glozman

Another baby blue look on the court in Mesa. This time, it’s from Glozman and this is just so elegant and chic. An airy pleated white tennis skirt paired with a high neck light blue tank top with ruching on the side is simply adorable. I also love that she styled the look with white socks, white visor, and light blue and navy court shoes from Asics. 10 out of 10 for color coordination.  

I’m also utterly obsessed with this green and white skirt from Glozman in women’s doubles. Yes please. I need to know where she got that skirt because I need it in my pickleball wardrobe.

Federico Staksrud

I took one look at this outfit and thought, okay color blocking boldness. Is it a little bit of an orca whale inspired with that black and white color palette – maybe but I don’t hate it. Staksrud’s fashion is getting into the experimental realm and I am here for it.

Johnson looked like a ballerina with this skirt and I’m utterly obsessed. I love the ballerina pink tank top paired with the pleated skirt that has this light feathery quality to it. And then how JW Johnson styled a light pink shirt with white shorts to match her in mixed doubles – now that’s just perfect. Well done Johnsons, I think it’s your outfits that lead you to the gold.  

In a complete 180 on the fashion scale, Johnson also rocked this all-black ensemble with one of the most unique tops I’ve seen on the pro court. It’s a high neck cropped tank top with triangular cutouts on the hemline, collar, and down the front, and it’s truly so cool. And it has an open back. I love this edgy take on pickleball fashion. 

Genie Bouchard

Like it or not, this is one bold look. And I definitely like it better than last week’s camo look. The solid emerald green is easier on the eyes, but I do question the legality of the bright yellow – does that distract her opponents or is that simply an excellent strategy? Who knows, but I applaud boldness.

Leigh Waters is looking so fabulous sitting courtside on championship Sunday. This absolutely darling in this crochet mini dress with a twirly skirt is so flattering on the World No. 1 coach – I love it. 

The daddies: Danny Jensen, Wes Burrows, Sam Querrey, and Rafa Hewett, and  made a spoof on The Girlie’s pickleball merch and made it “The Daddies” pickleball with a similar font, graphic, and green color. I love the creativity and humor in all of this.
