moorlow: pickleball fashion for brain health
Brooks Kenny, Holly Espy, and Sondra Hoffman are three friends and pickleball players who have a unique combination of skill sets and a diverse range of expertise.
The trio joined forces to create a new pickleball fashion line that not only prioritizes looking your best – it’s also for a good cause.
moorlow is a vibrant fashion line that weaves their mission of brain health and education into the stitches of their clothing.
“The M design emulates the bounce of a pickleball and a brain wave,” said Hoffman. “Our mission is in our product. When you put on our rally print, and you see the zig zag exposed stitching on the back of any of our pieces, it’s a reminder that you’re supporting brain health education and research by buying this.”
For every purchase at moorlow, they’re donating $2 to their brain health charity partners, Bright Focus Foundation and Hilarity for Charity. And why two dollars? Well, in pickleball, you have to win by two points.
“Brain health and education is critical to our mission and we care deeply about philanthropy. Every customer, when they buy a piece of moorlow, they receive brain health education and tips in their packaging. And those tips rotate for repeating customers, too,” said Kenny. “We want our customers to look great, feel great, play great, and know that they are doing good.”
Kenny shared that 45% of cases of dementia can be prevented through lifestyle. Pickleball was the perfect sport to share this brain health mission.
“Even learning something new and keeping score during a game, that’s good for your brain,” explained Kenny. “That drives oxygen and neuroplasticity to your brain, so we felt like it was the perfect opportunity to reinforce brain health education, while also watching people have fun and play a sport we love.”
Racket sports are also incredible for brain health because of the hand-eye coordination, mobility, and socialization involved.
“Research shows that it’s never too early and it’s never too late to do something positive for your brain. It’s a myth that Alzheimer’s and cognitive decline is just a part of the natural aging process,” insisted Kenny. “Age is the biggest risk factor, but there’s a lot you can do at any age to keep your brain sharp, and we want that message to transcend generations.”
Even better, these clothes are so fun. With a gorgeous color pallet of light blue, navy, white, and pops of pickleball green, their pieces are vibrant and joyful.
“Our aesthetic is bold, strong, and the cause is even better,” said Espy. “We like to use the phrase, 'Play happy,' so our color schemes are bright. There’s always a pop of color on every piece. But our biggest thing is that we are all about joy, movement, and meaning, and that’s in every stitch of our clothes.”
And with new collections in the works, moorlow is elevating and educating the pickleball fashion game.
