3 things to watch for on Saturday at PPA Texas

Now, let’s get into what to watch for.

  • For the second week in a row, Anna Leigh Waters and Kaitlyn Christian will face off in the women’s singles semifinals. Waters won last week’s meeting in Newport Beach 11-7, 11-9, but Christian has taken a game off of the top seed in two of the last three times they have played and has given her more trouble in recent months than any other player on tour in singles. The No. 3 seed will be looking to pull off the upset in the day’s third match on Humana Championship Court.

  • In men’s singles, Zane Ford is one win away from making his first final since 2024. The No. 10 seed is fresh off an 11-9, 11-0 quarterfinal triumph over Tama Shimabukuro and will take on No. 2 seed Chris Haworth on Saturday in what will be the second meeting between the two. Haworth won the previous meeting 11-5, 11-1 in the semifinals of the Daytona Beach Open in December, so Ford will be looking to flip the script in the day’s opening match.

  • And in mixed doubles, Anna Bright/Hayden Patriquin will take on Parris Todd/Andrei Daescu in a contest that carries some Major League Pickleball history. These teams are the mixed doubles aces for the St. Louis Shock and Columbus Sliders, respectively, and even though they haven’t met on the PPA Tour, they faced off twice during the 2025 MLP season where Bright/Patriquin won both games. Columbus still got the last laugh, of course, since the Sliders eliminated the Shock in the semifinals and went on to win the title, but Todd/Daescu will be looking for their first game and match win against the No. 3 seeds on Saturday in the fifth match on Humana Championship Court.

Live broadcast coverage from the Courts at McKinney Pickleball and Tennis Center will be available starting at 9am CT on Pickleballtv.
