3 things to watch for on Wednesday at PPA Cincinnati
The Veolia Cincinnati Showcase presented by Six Zero continues Wednesday with Round of 32 action in all five pro events.
Here is the order of play:
Now, let’s get into what to watch for.
- One of the day’s most intriguing matchups will pit No. 2 seed Federico Staksrud against No. 32 seed Alex Crum in men’s singles. This will be their third meeting of the year, with Crum having won the previous two. Staksrud will look to get his first win against Crum on Wednesday as he continues his quest for his first title since January.
- Another highly anticipated matchup comes from the mixed doubles draw, where No. 14 seeds Kate Fahey/Tyson McGuffin will face No. 19 seeds Mari Humberg/CJ Klinger. This is just the second tournament together for Fahey/McGufffin, while Humberg/Klinger have been competing together for most of this year. The No. 19 seeds will look to use that experience to propel them to the Round of 16, where a potential match against top seeds Anna Leigh Waters/Ben Johns looms.
- In men’s doubles, Noe Khlif/Rafa Hewett are partnering up for the first time since February as the No. 12 seeds. They began the year on high note, reaching the quarterfinals of The Masters and semifinals of the Tucson Open. They will look to replicate those successes in their first match together in seven months when they take on No. 22 seeds Martin Emmrich/Michael Loyd.
