3 things to watch for on Wednesday at PPA Las Vegas
The Rate Vegas Cup presented by Holland America continues Wednesday with Round of 32 action in all five pro events.
Here is the order of play:
Now, let’s get into what to watch for:
- For the second time in three tournaments, Dylan Frazier and Marshall Brown will square off in the men’s singles Round of 32. Frazier won their previous meeting in Virginia Beach by a 2-11, 11-6, 11-1 score line, so Brown will be looking to avenge that loss and find his level from Cincinnati, where he made the quarterfinals. This will be the second match of the day on Court 17, which you can watch on the PPA Streamed Courts YouTube channel.
- In mixed doubles, No. 10 seeds Tina Pisnik/Tyson McGuffin will take on No. 18 seeds Lea Jansen/Max Freeman in what projects to be an incredibly high-level Round of 32 clash. Pisnik and McGuffin are looking to make a deep run in their first tournament together, while Jansen and Freeman will be looking to advance to the Round of 16 for the first time in three tournaments together this year. This will be the fifth match on Showcase Court 1.
- In men’s doubles, Rafael Lenhard/Troy Akin pulled off one of Tuesday’s biggest upsets with their 2-11, 12-10, 11-9 victory over No. 21 seeds Jack Sock/Eric Roddy. The qualifiers—who took gold at the Rock City Rally PPA Challenger earlier this month—will next face No. 11 seeds Connor Garnett/Tyler Loong with a spot in the Round of 16 on the line. This will be the final match of the day on Court 17.
