- What many consider be the weekend’s best matchup on paper will take place on Sunday morning between the Los Angeles Mad Drops (12-5, 33pts) and the Columbus Sliders (9-4, 26pts). The Sliders haven’t dropped a single game through two matches on the weekend and will be looking to remain undefeated in their first event in nearly two months. This will be the first match on Championship Court and begin at 10am PT.
- The Phoenix Flames (4-13, 12pts) snapped a six-match skid with their DreamBreaker victory over the SoCal Hard Eights on Saturday evening. Led by their men’s doubles pairing of Jack Sock/Tyson McGuffin who are 3-0 together on the weekend, the Flames’ will close out their campaign with matches against the Columbus Sliders and Los Angeles Mad Drops, with the latter contest being tapped for Primetime Pickleball.
- Aside from the aforementioned Sliders, the Brooklyn Pickleball Team is the only other team that has yet to lose in San Clemente, despite being without all three of its rostered males in Dekel Bar (injury), Riley Newman (injury), and Pat Smith (illness). On-site alternates AJ Koller and Rafa Hewett have filled in admirably for Brooklyn so far and should play a crucial role in the team’s final matches against the SoCal Hard Eights and Utah Black Diamonds.
- At the Challenger level, the DC Pickleball Team is flying high after handing the Las Vegas Night Owls their first loss of the season on Saturday in a DreamBreaker. Now up to second place in the standings, DC will close out the weekend with a bout against the Nashville Chefs at 2:15pm PT on Grandstand Court.
Grandstand Court action begins at 9am PT, while Championship Court matches will start at 10am PT on Pickleballtv.
