Bellamy powers past Haworth for first 2026 title as Waters earns Triple Crown
Roscoe Bellamy earned his second career PPA Tour title with an 11-4, 11-5 victory over Chris Haworth in the men’s singles final at the Veolia Chicago Cup.
This was the first meeting between the two since 2024, and Bellamy was able to power past the top seed for his first head-to-head win.
But the No. 4 seed acknowledged that he may have lucked out with Haworth not playing at his highest level on Sunday.
“I got lucky today. Chris didn’t play his best, and fortunately I was able to come up with some really clutch shots,” he noted. “Chris is one of my best friends on tour, and the guy’s an absolute beast, so to even get a win against him is huge. I hope to play him a lot more.”
Sunday’s win gives Bellamy his first singles gold since the 2025 Lakeland Open, and he will look to replicate his success at next week’s tournament in Virginia Beach as the top seed.
Elsewhere, Anna Leigh Waters followed up earning her 200th career PPA Tour title by winning two more golds in women’s doubles and women’s singles to claim her 45th career Triple Crown.
For the second straight tournament, she and Anna Bright were pushed to three games by No. 2 seeds Hurricane Tyra Black/Catherine Parenteau; they dropped the first game before coming away with a 2-11, 11-3, 11-4 victory.
And in the final match of the day, Waters defeated No. 2 seed Kate Fahey 11-1, 11-7 to close out the PPA Tour’s memorable first trip to the Windy City.
While some pros are competing in the aforementioned event in Virginia Beach this upcoming week, others are traveling to Brisbane to compete in the 2026 Australia Pickleball Cup.
