Bright, Frazier outlast Black, Patriquin in three-game thriller
Anna Bright and Dylan Frazier are into the mixed doubles final at the Veolia Milwaukee Open after an electrifying 9-11, 11-4, 14-12 triumph over No. 7 seeds Tyra Black/Hayden Patriquin.
One of the stories of the match was Bright/Frazier’s struggles with closing out games.

The top seeds saw a 9-3 advantage in Game 1 disappear, as Black/Patriquin raced back to take it 11-9.
After they comfortably took the second game to force a Game 3, Bright/Frazier again jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the decider. They watched another sizable advantage disappear as three match points came and went.
Eventually, Patriquin/Black—who interestingly found success having Black play the left and Patriquin play the right—had a match point at 12-11, but Bright/Frazier survived and proceeded to score three in a row on their next service possession to close out one of the most entertaining matches of 2024.
Frazier, who is now into his first career mixed doubles final on the PPA Tour, spoke highly of Bright’s performance in the encounter.
“Anna makes life so easy for me,” he mentioned. “You saw a lot of balls going to me there, and that speaks to just how good Anna is. That’s why she’s at the top of the sport.”
Bright/Frazier will face either Jessie Irvine/Gabe Tardio or Meghan Dizon/Andrei Daescu in Sunday’s final, where they’ll look to capture a title in their first tournament together since 2023.
