Chicago, Miami to clash for Challenger level crown
The Chicago Slice and Miami Pickleball Club will square off on Sunday for the 2024 Challenger title after both squads triumphed in their semifinal series at the USTA National Campus.
Chicago advanced with a 2-0 victory over the Atlanta Bouncers. That’s an impressive result, especially considering that the Slice were missing both Brendon Long and Allison Harris due to injury.

Wyatt Stone and Michelle Esquivel filled in admirably and helped Chicago—also featuring Jack Munro and Megan Fudge—to consecutive wins over an Atlanta squad that had Anderson Scarpa filling in for Jaume Martinez Vich.
A fully healthy Miami Pickleball Club awaits Chicago in the final. Miami—featuring Noe Khlif, Eric Oncins, Milan Rane, and Bobbi Oshiro—outdueled the SoCal Hard Eights 2-1 to advance.
They swept the Hard Eights in the first match of the series on Friday, but SoCal responded with a thrilling DreamBreaker victory in Match 2 on Saturday afternoon.
A few hours later, though, Miami avenged their prior defeat by a 3-1 score line, thanks to mixed doubles wins from the pairings of Oshiro/Khlif and Rane/Oncins.
Chicago and Miami faced off twice in the regular season, with Miami winning both meetings. We’ll see if those results continue with half of the Slice’s usual roster out of commission.
That series will begin Sunday at 10am ET on the MLP YouTube.
