Allison Phillips’ brother Danny turns pro, creates rising sibling duo on tour
For Allison Phillips, pickleball runs in the family.
With a court in her parents’ backyard and several siblings competing at a high level, the sport is a shared passion for the entire Phillips clan.
Allison turned pro in 2023, and in 2026, her younger brother Danny joined her ranks by signing with the PPA Tour.
She’s thrilled to see him step onto the pro stage alongside her.
“Danny and I play and train together every day, and we’ve competed in some Challenger events too. It’s awesome to play with him, and I’m excited to see him come into his own,” she said. “He’s 15, so he still has some growing to do. But he’s taller than me now, and as he continues to grow and put on some muscle, I think he’s going to make a big splash.”
Allison shared that she and Danny recently moved to a new town in Utah, joining other rising pros like Elsie Hendershot and Braden Jacobson.
She believes Danny has an incredibly promising future ahead of him.
“He’s gonna be better than me. I had to take a humble pill earlier this year because he leveled up so quickly. He has so much talent. He’s very lengthy, he has snappy fast hands, and his reflexes are crazy,” she insisted. “But he’s also so respectful. I know it’s not a typical trait to call out, but it’s a great quality. It’s so nice and refreshing to see people who are positive and compliment each other on the court. He’s a great partner in that regard too.”
Having made the transition from amateur to pro herself, Allison has enjoyed helping guide Danny through that same journey.
“It’s a big jump when you start playing pro. I had to learn those lessons and make those adjustments when I went from amateur to pro, so I’m glad I can help mentor him through that,” she mentioned. “Even helping him grow his confidence on the court, and encouraging him, that’s so helpful when you’re first starting out.”
Like other sibling duos on tour, such as JW and Jorja Johnson and Alix and Jonathan Truong, Allison has truly enjoyed teaming up with her brother in competition—not just because of his growing pickleball skills, but because of the person he is as well.
“We’re in a world where we’re constantly being assessed by our results in pickleball. Danny is a great example of remembering to put pickleball in perspective in the grand scheme of life,” she praised. “He’s so mature and humble, and he’s great at reminding me that. He’s a great partner.”
Another Phillips sibling, Livvy, is also making her mark, competing at the collegiate level and in select PPA tournaments with hopes of turning pro.
Before long, Allison could find herself partnering with her younger siblings in both mixed and women’s events.
In the Phillips household, the talent pool clearly runs deep.
