Johnson, Schneemann stun Waters, Parenteau in three games
Jorja Johnson/Lacy Schneemann pulled off the upset of the tournament thus far with a 3-11, 11-6, 11-5 victory over Anna Leigh Waters/Catherine Parenteau.
As a first-time pairing in San Clemente, Johnson/Schneemann dropped their opening pool play match on Wednesday, but they found an impressive level of chemistry just a day later that helped them rally to beat the top seeds after dropping the first game.

One key for Schneemann was trusting Johnson more than she had in their previous match.
“I was playing a little bit too big yesterday, and Jorja is obviously such a stellar player," she explained. "I can absolutely let her set herself up and set me up without making the mistakes that I was making yesterday in the middle."
With this result, Johnson/Schneemann become just the second team ever to beat Waters/Parenteau.
The other, of course, is the pairing of Anna Bright/Rachel Rohrabacher.
"I was actually talking to Lacy before we played today, and we saw that apparently we had like a 1.3% chance to win, so I guess 1.3 is our lucky number," Johnson joked.
Luck or not, Johnson/Schneemann are now 1-1 going into their final pool play match against Mary Brascia/Meghan Dizon (0-2) on Friday. Waters/Parenteau (1-1) will take on Parris Todd/Tina Pisnik (2-0) to keep their hopes of advancing to the semifinals alive.
