Kawamotos outduel Brascias in sister showdown to make women’s doubles final
Jackie Kawamoto/Jade Kawamoto closed out Saturday’s action at the Baird Center with an 11-6, 11-6 victory over No. 7 seeds Mary Brascia/Maggie Brascia.
The No. 4 seeds showcased their strong defense and resets to get up to the kitchen line, where they proved to be the steadier of the familial duos on their way to the win.

Both Jackie and Jade have made Championship Sunday appearances with other partners in 2024, but this is their first time reaching a final together since PPA Cincinnati in 2023.
“There’s no one else I’d rather make it to Championship Sunday with than Jade,” shared Jackie. “We can get on each other’s last nerve, but we’re happy to be here together.”
This win is especially important for Jackie, as it propels her past Vivienne David and into the final women’s doubles qualifying spot for the CIBC PPA Tour Finals in early December.
Funnily enough, Jade will now be the first player to miss the cut for that event because she trails her sister by 50 points.
The sisters will face top seeds Anna Bright/Rachel Rohrabacher for gold.
Jade—who beat that duo earlier this year with Andrea Koop in Atlanta—knows what a challenge it will be.
“It’s definitely gonna be tough,” she said. “It seems like they’re in every final, so we’re definitely gonna need to be at the top of our game in order to win.”
Brascia/Brascia will also play on Sunday when they take on Tyra Black/Allyce Jones in the bronze medal match.
