Miami avenges prior defeat, takes Match 1 against Frisco

The Miami Pickleball Club kicked off postseason action with a 3-1 victory over the Frisco Pandas.

The team featuring Noe Khlif, Eric Oncins, Milan Rane, and Bobbi Oshiro fell to Frisco by the opposite score line when they played last week in Miami, but the South Florida squad didn’t let history repeat itself in Friday’s first match.

“I think we just tried to reset mentally after what happened in Miami,” said Khlif. “Obviously, we didn’t play the way we wanted and didn’t do too well there, so we really focused on getting good preparation and implementing smart strategies.”

One of the keys for Miami was getting off to a good start in gender doubles, especially because Frisco won both matchups in their last meeting; Khlif/Oncins took down Michael Loyd/Stefan Auvergne 25-13, while Rane/Oshiro defeated Ewa Radzikowska/Tammy Emmrich 25-14.

Those opening victories helped Miami set the tone for the rest of the contest.

“I think the main thing was just making sure that we started off strong so that we could show them that it wasn’t going to be the same type of match that it was last time,” Khlif explained.

With that 2-0 advantage, Miami was able to close out the victory with Oncins/Rane’s win over Loyd/Emmrich in the second mixed doubles game.

Miami now finds themselves just one win away from making the semifinals and earning a promotion to the Premier level in 2025.

They will look to earn that achievement—while Frisco will look to keep its season alive—when the teams face off again at 4pm CST.
