New MLP teammates Todd, Truong outduel Humberg, Rane in three games to make women’s doubles final
Earlier today, Major League Pickleball announced two trades that had been approved, one of which included the Miami Pickleball Club sending Alix Truong to the Columbus Sliders.
A few hours later, Truong and her new Sliders teammate Parris Todd advanced to the women’s doubles final in the Lone Star State.
Todd/Truong defeated No. 9 seeds Mari Humberg/Milan Rane by an 11-6, 4-11, 11-7 score line in one of Semifinal Saturday’s most entertaining contests.
Humberg/Rane were red-hot after a quarterfinal upset of No. 2 seeds Jorja Johnson/Tyra Black, but Todd/Truong proved to be too much in the end.
With this result, Truong is into her first PPA Tour final on American soil after earning four titles competing on the PPA Tour Asia circuit.
“It feels amazing,” said the 21-year-old afterwards. “Parris is unreal, and I’m really glad to have this chance to play with her. She came up clutch in that third game, so I’m really happy that we made it.”
This is the second tournament that Todd and Truong have played together in 2026.
Todd gave some insight into how she and Truong dialed in their partnership after falling in the Round of 16 at last month’s event in Cape Coral, FL.
“We kind of took a second and thought about what we needed to work on and how we can get better as a team,” she explained. “Now she’s a Slider girl, so this is great timing for everything. I’m just happy to have her on my side of the court.”
Top seeds Anna Leigh Waters/Anna Bright—who beat Catherine Parenteau/Rachel Rohrabacher 11-5, 11-8 in the second semifinal—await in Sunday’s championship round.
