Shock rebound from first loss, go 2-0 on Friday
After suffering their first loss of the season on Thursday, the St. Louis Shock (10-1, 30pts) got back on track with regulation victories over the Utah Black Diamonds (5-8, 15pts) and Carolina Hogs (1-9, 4pts).
The Shock dominated and went 7-1 in their eight games played on Friday, with the only blemish coming from Kate Fahey/Gabe Tardio’s 10-12 loss to Tammy Emmrich/Ben Johns of Carolina.
Just a few moments after that defeat, though, Anna Bright/Hayden Patriquin achieved a pickle over Kaitlyn Christian/Collin Johns to secure a 3-1 victory and close out the day’s action on Toray Championship Court.
Bright spoke about what the team learned from Thursday’s loss and the adjustments that were made coming into Friday’s matches.
“There are a few teams with a big target on their backs, and it’s an honor to be one of those, but we have to expect every team’s best and still come out hungry every match, even though we ae typically going to be pretty favored,” she explained. “That was the main adjustment, just coming out today really ready to go and really hungry. I think that’s definitely easy to do after a loss.”
The Shock will be back in action on Saturday when they face the Chicago Slice and SoCal Hard Eights.
Here are other notable results from Friday at Pictona:
