Sock withdraws from Veolia Atlanta Pickleball Championships with ankle injury
One of pickleball’s biggest tournaments will be without one of the sport’s most recognizable stars.
Jack Sock is withdrawing from this week’s Veolia Atlanta Pickleball Championships with an ankle injury.
The tennis icon turned pickleball pro was set to play men’s singles, men’s doubles with Eric Roddy, and mixed doubles with his Phoenix Flames teammate, Genie Bouchard.
A lucky loser from Monday’s qualifying rounds will take his spots in the main draw.
This is a disappointing announcement for the 32-year-old, who isn't too far removed from a runner-up finish at the Red Rock Open, where he beat Federico Staksrud and Connor Garnett before falling to Hunter Johnson in the final.
Sock’s next chance to compete will be at MLP Phoenix, scheduled for May 29-June 1.
