Team USA captured the inaugural MLP Nations Cup title with a 3-0 sweep over Team Latin America Sunday afternoon at Brookhaven Country Club.

Featuring top stars Anna Bright, Kate Fahey, Hurricane Tyra Black, Ben Johns, CJ Klinger, and Will Howells, Team USA entered Sunday’s final battle-tested but undefeated through three group play matches and the semifinals.

With an 11-9, 11-1, 11-6 win in the finals, it’s safe to say that the team found their highest level in the biggest moments.

“They’re definitely all patriots. They were really proud playing for their country coming into it. I knew they were all great players, but to get them to come together in 24 hours—they bought into everything,” said Team USA captain Johnny Goldberg. “I felt like we were playing our best pickleball in that last match.”

Team Latin America—featuring Mari Humberg, Alexa Schull, Charlie Treviño, Eric Oncins, Nico Acevedo, and Rafa Lenhard—made a strong run to the final after dropping their first match of the event on Friday against Team Europe – East.

For Anna Bright, this event provided a memorable opportunity to formally represent the United States for the very first time on the pickleball court.

“All the chants, all the support from the crowd really meant so much and really helped us feel like we were playing for more than ourselves,” she shared. “But this group of players is really, really incredible; I knew coming into this event that it would be a good time, but it was way more fun than I thought it would be. It was super fun representing the USA with them, and I really hope that this event continues to happen.”

Now, attention will turn to the Opendoor Pickleball World Championships.

Main draw action begins Tuesday, and coverage will be available on Pickleballtv.
