Texas Ranchers embrace cowboy culture before MLP Dallas
In preparation for MLP Dallas, the Texas Ranchers decided to get together before the start of the tournament and have a little bit of team bonding.
This team has prioritized a strong team chemistry from the start of the season. They regularly practice together, frequently partner up in PPA tournaments (and even win), and they even took a trip to Spain together. This team is currently giving the St. Louis Shock a run for their money with friendships and camaraderie on and off the court.
The Texas Ranchers met up in Austin, Texas for drilling, playing, strategizing, and bonding. But instead of just going to dinner and eating some Texas BBQ together, this team decided to put a Texas spin on the afternoon and hit a classic Texas western store.
Tina Pisnik shared a few charming moments of the team in their Lone Star State outing where Pisnik, Christian Alshon, Quang Duong, and Etta Wright tried on some cowboy hats. Pisnik, Duong, and Wright went for white hats, and Alshon sported a black one.

It’s humorous to see the Ranchers in their big cowboy hats and normal day-to-day attire. Pisnik and Wright wore sweat suits. Duong wore his usual pickleball court style, a Selkirk t-shirt, athletic shorts, and topped off the look with white Kane rubber shoes.
Clearly, great pickleball minds think alike and Alshon had on the exact same shoes. Though he paired them with a polo and shorts. However, I don’t know how well those rubber shoes pair with the hats. Perhaps if they all wore some Wranglers, boots, and a flannel, they’d look a little bit more cowboy.
Duong also attempted to find the right pair of cowboy boots for him. However, Duong discovered that he accidentally had them on the wrong feet – something Duong’s father and coach chuckled over in the background.
And above them, there’s a neon sign with celebrity Texan, Matthew McConaughey’s famous saying “alright, alright, alright.” There’s nothing more Texan than that.
The team later hit the pickleball court together to get to play. And with Alshon back in the action from a short injury break, it’s looking like the Ranchers are prepared and ready to go.
And as they say – don’t mess with Texas.
Tune in to Pickleballtv starting Nov. 1 to watch the action unfold at MLP Dallas.
