Wang among bronze-medal winners in Bristol
BRISTOL, TN - Zoey Wang headlined the list of bronze-medal winners at the IHG Hotels & Resorts Bristol Open presented by Deep Eddy Vodka on Sunday.
The No. 14 seed claimed her first-ever medal on the PPA Tour when fourth-seeded Salome Devidze withdrew before the match at Bristol Sportsplex.
It was a rather impressive women’s singles run for the rising 22-year-old Taiwanese star, who defeated third-seeded Lea Jansen in the Round of 16 and eighth-seeded Judit Castillo in the quarterfinals.
Wang also gave sixth-seeded Kaitlyn Christian quite a battle in the second game of their semi-final contest, before ultimately falling 13-11.
Third-seeded Tyson McGuffin claimed bronze in men's singles when fifth-seeded Quang Duong retired in the second game to make a flight to India.
Seventh-seeded Vivian Glozman and Jorja Johnson secured bronze in women's doubles with an 11-8, 7-11, 11-9 victory over 14th-seeded Castillo and Ewa Radzikowska.
Sixth-seeded Jay Devilliers and Pablo Tellez won bronze in men's doubles with an 11-3, 2-11, 12-10 triumph over seventh-seeded Andrei Daescu and James Ignatowich.
The tandem of 14th-seeded Jackie Kawamoto and Jaume Martinez Vich claimed bronze in mixed doubles with an 11-5, 11-7 victory over fourth-seeded Tina Pisnik and Dekel Bar.
