What to watch for on Tuesday at PPA Worlds
Main draw action at the Jenius Bank Pickleball World Championships begins Tuesday with early round matches in all five pro events.
This is the biggest event of the year on the PPA Tour, with 3,000 rankings points awarded to the victors in each pro division.
Here is the order of play:
Now, let’s get into what to watch for.
- Hong kit “Jack” Wong is into the men’s singles main draw after battling through the qualifying rounds on Monday. Widely regarded as one of the top singles players in Asia, Wong will face No. 63 seed Caden Nemoff in the Round of 128. If he wins that, he will then take on No. 3 seed Christian Alshon in what would be a rematch of the final from PPA Tour Asia’s Panas Malaysia Cup back in September. Alshon triumphed 11-9, 11-5 overseas, so Wong will be out for revenge if he makes the Round of 64 on Tuesday.
- In mixed doubles, Jade Kawamoto and Augie Ge will team up for the first time. This is noteworthy because both players are left-handed. In my three years of following professional pickleball, I have never seen a mixed doubles team with two lefties, so this pairing should be quite an entertaining watch. They will take on either Judit Castillo/Tyler Loong or Jazz Hearn/Armaan Jiwa Mawji on Tuesday afternoon.
Live broadcast coverage from Brookhaven Country Club begins at 10am CT on Pickleballtv.
