The best pro pickleball fashion of 2024
It was - without a doubt - the most fashionable year for pickleball pros to date.
There have always been a few players who made their on-court style a top priority, but more and more are stepping up their game in that department on a regular basis.
Some pros simply cared more about their gameplay than their choice of clothing – which is completely okay! Now that pickleball is growing exponentially, though, I’m over the moon to see fashion assuming extra importance.
From monochromatic Alo Yoga sets to sleek JOOLA polos, things are definitely trending in the right direction.
Let’s take a look at some of the standout looks from this past season.
Jay Devilliers at the Hyundai Masters
Clad in the Masters all-white ensemble, Devilliers looked so sleek in a white head-to-toe LEORÊVER look, complete with a white headband, a very tennis chic look. The sleek fit looks great on the Flying Frenchman, and this tournament also marked Devillier’s new facial hair – a mustache. And while the stache didn’t last long on tour, I think Jay should bring it back.
Mary Brascia and Maggie Brascia at the Carvana Mesa Arizona Cup
The Brascia sisters love to color coordinate when they pair up together in women’s doubles. In Mesa, they opted for white and matching sage green skirts. The fitted skirts with small slits are so flattering and gorgeous on the girls. But I also love that they show their individuality with Maggie opting for a baseball hat and tank, while Mary opts for a visor and long-sleeve top. So cute.
Travis Rettenmaier at the Select Medical Orange County Cup
Rettenmaier is a staple for bold, colorful fashion inspiration. He always dresses like he’s got a pickleball match in the morning and a trip to the beach in the afternoon. But at this tournament, Rettenmaier wore a more artistic polo with his preferred bright neon color palette. Paired with white shorts, shoes, socks, and hat, Travis always knows how to make a big statement on the court.
Genie Bouchard at the Veolia Sacramento Open
I adore this old-school retro tennis look from Bouchard. This dress from New Balance pays homage to her tennis roots. With a classic navy pleated tennis skirt, fitted collared tank, and a matching navy visor, Genie always knows how to show up in style.
Dominique Schaefer at the Veolia LA Open
Schaefer loves a trendy look on the court, but this navy ensemble is a standout. The long-sleeve textured top with matching shorts is a timeless look. But for extra flare, she paired the outfit with bright orange New Balance shoes. So fun.
Tyson McGuffin at the Kansas City Open
This is a classic McGuffin look. Tyson loves the bright bold shorts and shoe combo. Paired with a white muscle tee and Skechers hat, this is a go-to look for him. And I’m just a sucker for those pink Skechers. Leave it to this showman to be super fashionable, too.
Tyler Loong at the Selkirk Kansas City Open
I’ve got to hand it to Stack Athletics because they are elevating men’s pro fashion – and Loong has never looked cooler. He rocked Nike court shoes, white ankle socks, these unique cognac brown shorts, a black tee, and a black headband. And just look at that hair. A win.
Anna Leigh Waters at the IHG Hotels & Resorts Bristol Open
When Waters debuted FILA’s new lineup of retro tennis chic fits, I just about died. She has several different versions of these in black, navy, and green. But this cream look is my personal favorite. The two-tiered skirt is so flattering and photographs beautifully. Paired with a matching top, visor, shoes, and eyeglasses, Anna Leigh had me desperately wanting to dress just like her when I hit the court.
Hayden Patriquin at the Veolia LA Open
Can I say that Patriquin reminds me of Justin Bieber in the best possible way? He’s effortlessly cool with a clean, fresh look. He may be considered a youngster on the court, but he’s one of the best dressed men out there. Coupled with his outstanding play, Hayden personifies the expression "Look good, play good" to perfection.
Ava Ignatowich at the CIBC Atlanta Slam
Ignatowich has an adorable style, usually going for trendy colors and girly silhouettes. She’s the embodiment of the kind of pickleball wardrobe I want to emulate. In Atlanta, Ava wore an Alo Yoga yellow tennis dress that was simply sunshiny. That color was stunning on her, and the white detailing was so on-trend this year. She’s got great taste.
Federico Staksrud at the CIBC Atlanta Slam
Staksrud has become a staple on the Best Dressed List. At the beginning of the year, he wore his classic blue shirt for every Championship Sunday, but he stepped out of that comfort zone and really stepped it up. Clad in JOOLA polos, shorts, and sleek white court shoes, Federico's fashion game is golden.
Lauren Stratman and Julian Arnold at the Stratusphere Gin Virginia Beach Cup
Leave it to Stratman and Arnold to expertly coordinate their mixed doubles outfits. This partnership knows how to keep it timeless, but these looks are especially strong. Arnold in wearing a lululemon green T-shirt and lululemon white shorts, while Stratman is sporting a white top and matching lululemon green shorts. Topped off with white shoes and a white hat, these two just look perfect.
Michael Loyd at the Lapiplasty Pickleball World Championship
Loyd made a statement at the Lapiplasty Pickleball World Championships by rocking a Stack tie-dye purple set and reaching Championship Sunday. The color is gorgeous, and I love that he fully committed to the purple by pairing the shirt with a lavender short and hat. And he wore his signature jewelry, of course. A top-tier look.
Hurricane Tyra Black at the Veolia Milwaukee Open
I was properly stunned when Black stepped out on the court in this red dress from 11NIL. From the zipper front detail to the mesh paneling, she looks like a sporty ballerina in the best way. And leave it to Tyra to accessorize well, pairing the bold dress with a pearl necklace, white visor, and white shoes. Her attire is always a win.
Callie Smith and Parris Todd at the Veolia Milwaukee Open
Alo Yoga lavender skirts? Sleek white tops? Smith with her usual braid and ribbon and Todd with an oversized bow and scrunchie? It’s matchy-matchy, but still maintains individuality. Yes, please! Give me more of this fabulous fashionable partnership. Their outfits alone will lead them to success.
Hunter Johnson at the CIBC PPA Tour Finals
Johnson caps the list with his navy Wilson polo, shorts, and hat. The polo is the standout, with the subtle striped pattern that alternates between mesh and fabric. But he styled it expertly, and it also led him to gold in men’s singles.
