3 things to watch for on Tuesday at PPA Sacramento
Main draw competition at the Fasenra Sacramento Open presented by Zimmer Biomet begins Tuesday with early-round action in pro events.
Here is the order of play:
Now, let’s get into what to watch for.
- Ben Johns is back in the men’s singles draw this week for what will be just his second singles appearance of 2026. He made the final of the Mesa Cup back in February and will be looking to do one better this week as the No. 11 seed. His path to the final in Sacramento will be anything but easy, as he’s on the same side of the draw as Jack Sock, Chris Haworth, and Hunter Johnson. Johns will kick off his campaign against No 56 seed Colin Wong in the fourth match of the day on Humana Championship Court.
- In mixed doubles, Catherine Parenteau/Max Freeman will team up for the very first time on the PPA Tour. This will be a first look at what projects be a starting mixed doubles pairing for the Los Angeles Mad Drops (alongside Jade Kawamoto/Ben Johns) during the upcoming Major League Pickleball season. Parenteau/Freeman will face No. 55 seeds Ngo Dang/Anni Xie in the seventh contest on Humana Championship Court.
- And in men’s doubles, No. 6 seeds Armaan Bhatia/Riley Newman are out after Bhatia had to withdraw ahead of this week’s event. Syed Uzair Sufi/Colin Wong, who fell in the final round of Monday’s qualifying competition, will step in as the No. 6 seeds and have a bye straight to Wednesday’s Round of 32. They will look to take full advantage of their stroke of luck in the main draw.
Live broadcast coverage from Life Time Arden will be available starting at 10am PT on the PPA Streamed Courts YouTube.
