Alshon, Daescu battle past Staksrud, Patriquin for third title together
Christian Alshon/Andrei Daescu continued their run of dominant performances with a 12-10, 9-11, 11-4, 11-5 victory over top seeds Federico Staksrud/Hayden Patriquin in the men’s doubles final.
The No. 2 seeds overcame a 5-10 deficit in the opening game and saved five game points to steal it and get on the board first.
Though they would go on to drop a tightly contested second game, Alshon/Daescu responded well and comfortably took Games 3 and 4 to secure their third title of the 2025 season together.
Alshon—who will go for gold alongside Catherine Parenteau in the mixed doubles final later on Sunday—applauded Daescu for his versatility as a partner.
“I love competing with Andrei. He’s an absolute animal on both the left and the right sides,” he noted.
For Daescu, the Utah crowd was the X-factor in helping him deliver a winning performance.
“It’s so much fun to fight in front of this crowd,” he mentioned. “It’s hard not to compete your hardest when this crowd is so volcanic and bringing so much energy.”
In the bronze medal match, No. 4 seeds JW Johnson/CJ Klinger defeated No. 4 seeds Dekel Bar/Dylan Frazier by an 11-5, 7-11, 11-7 score line.
