6:50 p.m. PDT: Bouchard downs Truluck to make first PPA semifinal
Genie Bouchard continued her impressive run in Sin City with an 8-11, 12-10, 11-3 victory over No. 12 seed Liz Truluck.
This marks her first time making it to a PPA semifinal.
“I’m so excited,” she said. “I feel like I’ve been putting in the hours, and so I’m happy to see it paying off on the match court.”
After dropping the opening game, the No. 16 seed jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the second game. It looked like she would comfortably send it to a third, but Truluck brought it all the way back to 9-9 before Bouchard regained her composure and close out that game and, eventually, the entire match.
She’ll next take on the red-hot Kate Fahey with a spot in Championship Sunday on the line.
4:40 p.m. PDT: Parenteau avenges past losses, ousts Wang in two games
Catherine Parenteau battled past No. 10 seed Zoey Wang to make the women’s singles semifinals, coming away with an 11-2, 11-9 victory.
Wang took the win the last two times these two faced off, most recently in a three-game thriller last week in Virginia Beach.
Parenteau was extra motivated to avoid a different result on Thursday.
“There was a lot of talking strategy and studying film going into that match,” she shared. “Zoey is an amazing player, and she’s really tough to pass at the net. I felt like I had to be up at the kitchen line first, and I think I did a good job of being aggressive.”
The No. 2 seed will take on No. 4 seed Brooke Buckner with a chance to make her first singles Championship Sunday appearance since June.
4:15 p.m. PDT: Loyd edges past Alhouni, into first PPA semifinal
For the first time in his career, Michael Loyd is a PPA semifinalist. He achieved the feat with a 6-11, 11-2, 11-7 victory over No. 28 seed Mota Alhouni.
Both players benefitted from some withdrawals early in the day that opened up their side of the draw—from Tyson McGuffin and Dylan Frazier, specifically.
It's been a long day for Loyd, who has four wins so far; he'll look to make it five when he takes on No. 6 seed Quang Duong with a Championship Sunday berth on the line.
3:20 p.m. PDT: Bouchard picks up marquee victory over Jansen
Genie Bouchard earned the win of her career to date in the Round of 16, an 11-4, 11-8 victory over No. 3 seed Lea Jansen.
Much like she had done in her opening match against Allyce Jones, Bouchard was able to overpower Jansen with deep, heavy drives from the baseline.
It looked like Jansen would force a third game when she jumped out to a 5-1 lead in Game 2, but Bouchard worked her way back into it to close out the win in two games.
The No. 16 seed will face either No. 37 seed Allison Wu—who upset Lacy Schneemann earlier in the day—or No. 12 seed Liz Truluck in the quarterfinals.
3:00 p.m. PDT: Fahey outlasts Christian in tense three-game battle
Kate Fahey advanced in Las Vegas with a 10-12, 13-11, 11-3 victory over No. 6 seed Kaitlyn Christian.
The story of the match was missed opportunities from both players: Fahey had five chances to close out the first game but didn't, and Christian herself had a match point in Game 2 that Fahey was able to fight off to force a third.
Fahey carried that momentum forward and comfortably took Game 3 to close out the match.
9) Kate Fahey gets the BIG win over 6) Kaitlyn Christian 10-12, 13-11, 11-3 advancing to the quarterfinals 🙌

The No. 9 seed has a big opportunity in Las Vegas because top-seeded Anna Leigh Waters withdrew with a knee injury before play began on Thursday.
The former University of Michigan tennis star is trying to not let it affect her.
“It’s a great opportunity, but nothing really changes,” she said. “Obviously it makes it a little easier not having to face Anna Leigh, but everyone’s good in these draws.”
Fahey will battle No. 13 seed Ava Ignatowich for a spot in the semifinals.
2:35 p.m. PDT: Sock stays alive, battles past Brown to make quarters
Jack Sock booked his spot in the men's singles quarterfinals with a 6-11, 12-10, 11-2 victory over No. 18 seed Marshall Brown.
The No. 8 seed looked to be all but out of when he faced match point trailing 6-10 in Game 2, but he went on a furious rally of 14 straight points—mostly fueled by his forehand—to come away with the win.
He will face No. 3 seed Connor Garnett next.
2:20 p.m. PDT: Johnson outduels Maddox in three games
Jorja Johnson is into the women's singles Round of 16, but she had to battle to get there. The No. 11 seed took down No. 17 seed Christine Maddox 7-11, 11-5, 11-9 in a tightly contested bout.
It looked Maddox was closing in on the victory in Game 3 when she earned a 7-4 lead, but Johnson rattled off the next six points to all but seal the match's fate.
The talented 18-year-old will face No. 7 seed Judit Castillo in the quarterfinals.
1:35 p.m. PDT: Bellamy stuns Johns to make quarters
Roscoe Bellamy picked up a career-defining victory over Ben Johns, defeating the No. 2 seed by a 4-11, 11-7, 11-5 score line.
It looked like the match would almost certainly end in favor of Johns after he took Game 1 and held a 5-1 advantage in the second, but Bellamy stormed back to steal the second and would go on to comfortably take the third.
Focusing on dialing in the returns helped the No. 16 seed turn the tide of the encounter.
“I think my return was the problem in the first game,” he explained. “[Ben] was kind of eating my return up, and I had to change some things, which let me get back into that second game.”
This is a big win for Bellamy, who is now into his second consecutive PPA quarterfinal.
“You’re playing tournaments after tournament so it’s one of those things where you see a lot of the same players, and it can kind of feel like the same thing a lot of the time. This helps a lot with confidence, and you just have to use it for future matches and tournaments.”
The former UCLA tennis standout will next face No. 6 seed Quang Duong with a spot in the semifinals on the line.
1:10 p.m. PDT: Bouchard defeats Jones in two games to make Round of 16
Genie Bouchard started off her Las Vegas campaign with an 11-8, 11-2 victory over No. 24 seed Allyce Jones.
The No. 16 seed—and former top-5 ranked WTA tennis star—was able to overpower Jones with her drives from the baseline, which gave her opportunities to come into the kitchen line and end points from there.
Bouchard is nearing the end of her first full year competing on the PPA Tour; despite the undeniable progress she’s made since her first event in January—especially in singles—she knows that there is work to be done in all aspects of her game.
“I feel like I have a long way to go,” she mentioned. “I find it a little tricky playing here because the ball flies a little bit more, so I’m a little bit hesitant to hit through some of my shots, but I feel like I can improve on everything, especially at the kitchen line with the dinks.”
She will face either Lea Jansen or Camila Zilveti in the Round of 16.
12:55 p.m. PDT: Tellez outlasts Tardio in back-and-forth affair
Pablo Tellez defeated No. 17 seed Gabriel Tardio 9-11, 11-9, 11-1 in a highly entertaining match that featured wild momentum swings throughout.
The No. 10 seed started off strongly, to the point of having a 9-0 lead in Game 1. Tardio, however, would go on an 18-2 run to steal that opening game and give himself a 7-2 lead in the second.
From there, though, it was all Tellez. He stormed back take Game 2 and even the match before sprinting to victory in the third game to book his spot in the Round of 16.
He'll next take on No. 7 seed Jaume Martinez Vich with a spot in the quarterfinals on the line.
11:55 a.m. PDT: Frank continues run with victory over Hewett
Oliver Frank booked his spot in the Round of 16 with an 11-7, 11-6 victory over No. 14 seed Rafa Hewett.
It's the second win of the day for the qualifier from Colorado after he beat No. 22 seed Alex Neumann in the Round of 32.
Frank will look to make his first career PPA quarterfinal when he faces No. 28 seed Mota Alhouni in the Round of 16.
11:45 a.m. PDT: Johns overcomes slow start to defeat French in three games
Ben Johns is into the Round of 16 in Las Vegas after a 4-11, 11-3, 11-3 victory over No. 29 seed Brandon French.
French came out on fire, passing Johns with pure drives from virtually all areas of the baseline and transition zone.
But Johns, like he has done time and again throughout his illustrious career, found his form when he needed it and closed out the match on a 22-4 run.
The No. 2 seed will take on Roscoe Bellamy with a spot in the quarterfinals on the line.
10:55 a.m. PDT: Campbell survives, downs Ness in three games
No. 20 seed Cason Campbell came through his opening round match against No. 47 seed Luke Ness with a 5-11, 11-4, 11-9 victory.
Ness—who won three matches just to make the main draw—looked like he might finish the upset when he got up 8-6 in the deciding game, but Campbell scored four in a row to turn the tide and escape with the win.
He'll face No. 16 seed Roscoe Bellamy next.
9:55 a.m. PDT: Sherry withdraws, sends Lenhard to Round of 32
No. 23 seed Ryan Sherry withdrew from his opening round match against No. 48 seed Rafael Lenhard.
This means that Lenhard—who came through Wednesday's qualifying rounds—will face No. 13 seed Collin Shick in the Round of 32.
9:15 a.m. PDT: No. 4 seed McGuffin withdraws from singles
Tyson McGuffin is the latest big name to withdraw from Thursday's singles competition, citing Achilles tendonitis as the reason.
This means that winner of the match between No. 28 seed Mota Alhouni and No. 38 seed Daniel Jensen will make the Round of 16.
7:30 a.m. PDT: Waters, Frazier withdraw with knee injuries
Anna Leigh Waters and Dylan Frazier will not compete in singles in Las Vegas after withdrawing with knee injuries.
Waters—who is coming off of her tenth singles titles of 2024 in Virginia Beach—is the No. 1 seed, so her absence opens up her half of the draw for other top seeds like Kate Fahey, Kaitlyn Christian, Lea Jansen, and Lacy Schneemann.
Frazier was set to be the No. 5 seed in the men's singles draw and will now be replaced by lucky loser Claudio Quinones Garcia.
Quinones Garcia will face either No. 30 seed Michael Loyd or No. 40 seed Greg Dow in the Round of 32.
