Waters, Parenteau sweep Tuionetoa, Jones for women’s doubles gold
After suffering their first defeat of the year last time out in Texas, Anna Leigh Waters/Catherine Parenteau reestablished themselves atop the women’s doubles podium with an 11-9, 11-3, 11-8 victory over Etta Tuionetoa/Allyce Jones.
In the day’s first match in the PPA’s time slot on FOX National, the top seeds overcame an inspired performance from Utah favorites Tuionetoa/Jones and found a way through in straight games for their 31st title as a partnership.

Parenteau raved about the mental fortitude of Waters, who earlier in the day secured her fiftieth women’s singles titles on the PPA Tour.
“I’m just so lucky to be Anna Leigh’s partner,” she said. “She’s got all the shots, but I think her strength is really her mentality. At 18, it’s amazing. She fights for every single point. It doesn’t matter if she’s tired or sick—she’s always going to be there and give 100%.”
Parenteau herself will be back in action in the final match of the weekend at Little Valley Sports Complex when she and Christian Alshon take on Parris Todd and Dekel Bar for the mixed doubles title.
In the bronze medal match, No. 2 seeds Rachel Rohrabacher/Parris Todd defeated No. 15 seeds Kaitlyn Christian/Christa Gecheva by an 11-5, 11-4 score line.
