Aerie features “Pickletini,” brings court fashion to American Eagle
I swear I’m getting at least a hundred emails every day – and that’s just my personal email. I’m constantly bombarded with sales I’m missing, new styles dropping, and a bucket load of spring and summer fits I didn’t know I needed for my hot girl summer.
I have so many messages that it takes a special kind of tagline or series of emojis to catch my eye and get me to open it.
So imagine my surprise when I received an email from Aerie (American Eagle’s athleisure, lifestyle, and swimwear store) informing me about “Pickletini” followed by a pickle and a ping pong emoji. Because alas, we’re still waiting on a pickleball emoji.
I needed to investigate further.
“Pickletini believes pickleball apparel is for everyone and is empowering all pickleball players to feel comfortable, confident, and part of a community on the court” said the email featuring dozens of adorable pickleball looks.
Okay, now I’m hooked.
I followed the link to the website, and I was blown away by all the options.
I’ve been analyzing the pickleball fashion scene for over two years. I’ve seen the bold claims from brands that say they love pickleball, but it’s really just an excuse to jump in on the trending sport so they cleverly rebrand a regular tennis dress as a pickleball dress and call it a day.
The selection is often small and the graphics always feature more tennis rackets than pickleball paddles.
But Pickletini is a pickleball brand, so their designs actually feature pickleball paddles and pickleballs.
For example, this long sleeve sweatshirt with a Pickleball Local League design. Or this gorgeous navy blue varsity sweater with stitched pickleball paddles. They even have pickleball paddles with a cheery pickleball design.
Currently, their collection is predominantly navy, white, and red. It’s very retro Americana, and I love that aesthetic. And it's perfect for Memorial Day and Fourth of July pickleball celebrations this summer.
There’s also pops of sky blue and butter yellow in their collection, which is perfectly on trend for spring 2025 pickleball fashion.
Overall, Pickletini’s looks are sporty and retro with zip up details on the dresses, sweaters and this cute little asymmetrical pleated tennis skirt with a zipper in the back. So cute.
I particularly like the drawstring shorts. There’s something about the design that feels so nostalgic in the best way - like high school gym class, but make it chic. And then paired with a ribbed tank, and you’re simply dressed for success on the court.
They also have some excellent basics for pickleball court fashion, like pleated skirts in white and navy, and a variety of bras and tops you can mix and match with other items in their collection.
The only drawback is the lack of shorts for the dresses. I love a tennis dress, and I personally refuse to wear any dresses and skirts that don’t have built-in shorts, but if that’s okay with you, then give them a try.
From the looks of things, Aerie partnering with Pickletini appears to be overwhelmingly positive. And I can’t wait to see more pickleball specific looks appear in game-changing brands like this.
The pickleball fashion game is becoming mainstream.
