Now, let’s get into what to watch for.
- Less than a week after the Columbus Sliders defeated the New Jersey 5s in an epic final to close out the Major League Pickleball season, some members of each team are partnering up in mixed doubles. The Sliders’ Lea Jansen is playing with the 5s’ Noe Khlif, while Sliders team captain Andrei Daescu is joining forces with the 5s’ Meghan Dizon. These pairings are the No. 12 seeds and No. 8 seeds, respectively.
- With JW Johnson not playing this week, Jorja Johnson is partnering up with Jonathan Truong in mixed doubles. Truong, the younger brother of Alix Truong, signed with the tour earlier this month and played for the Challenger level’s Bay Area Breakers at several events during the MLP season. Johnson/Truong are the No. 4 seeds in Las Vegas.
- Alix Truong/Eric Oncins are teaming up for the first time since their semifinal run at the Texas Open in March, where they ran through a gauntlet of top teams including Catherine Parenteau/Christian Alshon and Jessie Irvine/Gabe Tardio. They will look to build on that success this week as the No. 18 seeds and could face off against No. 13 seeds Kate Fahey/Tyson McGuffin in what would be a must-see Round of 32 matchup.
Live broadcast coverage from Las Vegas Convention Center begins at 11am PDT on Pickleballtv.
