Fahey ends Bouchard’s run, earns gold in women’s singles
Kate Fahey closed out Championship Sunday action at Life Time Arden with an 11-5, 11-9 victory over No. 5 seed Genie Bouchard in the women’s singles final.
The former Wimbledon semifinalist Bouchard was making her first appearance in a PPA Tour final, but the top-seeded Fahey brought her best level in the big moments to secure her second title of the 2025 season.
The contest featured several highlight reel-caliber rallies, with both players putting their speed and athleticism on full display.
“A lot of the time, especially for the people watching, you think you’re out of the point, but you really never are,” Fahey said afterwards. “I try to watch Tyra [Black’s] defense, and I have been working a ton on my fitness recently, so I’m really glad that it’s paying off.”
The 28-year-old is set to get married next Saturday and expressed her gratitude to her fiancée, Charlie, for letting her play this event right before the big day.
“Shout out to Charlie for allowing me to do this. I mean, not a lot of fiancées would let you go do what you love six days before your wedding, but I’m just extremely excited,” she said.
In the bronze medal match, No. 3 seed Lea Jansen defeated No. 4 seed Mary Brascia by an 11-9, 7-11, 11-4 score line.
