Johnson, Frazier strike gold in first tournament together since 2024
This week’s PPA Tour event is meant to celebrate pickleball’s roots, so it’s fitting that a partnership with a long history of success in men's doubles took home the gold.
That partnership is comprised of JW Johnson/Dylan Frazier, who earned ten PPA titles together from 2022-2024, a mark that is good for second-most all time behind Ben Johns/Collin Johns.

Playing together for the first time this season, they defeated No. 7 seeds James Ignatowich/Augie Ge 11-6, 11-7, 11-1 in the day’s first title match on Humana Championship Court.
Frazier spoke about the experience of reuniting with his former partner with whom he has had so much success.
“I think we’ve got really great chemistry, and we still practice together a lot in Florida, so we just picked up right where we left off,” he said.
“I feel like I’m back in 2016 playing pickleball again,” he continued, referring to using wooden paddles this week in Sacramento. “It changed the game and changed the strategy a bit, so it was fun to make adjustments. We were kind of learning as we went.”
Johnson and Frazier will be back on court—this time as opponents—later Sunday afternoon as they face off for the mixed doubles title.
In the bronze medal match, top seeds Andrei Daescu/Collin Johns beat No. 6 seeds Riley Newman/Jay Devilliers by a 2-11, 12-10, 11-9 score line.
