7:05 p.m. CT: Former MLP teammates Padegimaite, Sleeth upset Schneemann, David

Even though Lina Padegimaite and Layne Sleeth aren't Major League Pickleball teammates anymore, they're showing that they're still a strong women's doubles pairing.

The former Brooklyn Aces teammates are into the women's doubles quarterfinals after an 11-6, 11-8 victory over No. 6 seeds Lacy Schneemann/Vivienne David early Thursday evening.

This win sets the No. 12 seeds up to face No. 2 seeds Anna Bright/Rachel Rohrabacher on Friday with a spot in the semifinals on the line.

5:55 p.m. CT: Rettenmaier, Navratil take down Daescu, Tardio in straight games

In the second big upset of the day in men's doubles, Travis Rettenmaier/Zane Navratil beat No. 5 seeds Andrei Daescu/Gabe Tardio by a 13-11, 11-4 score line.

Playing strike-first pickleball was key for the No. 10 seeds.

"I think we were really aggressive," Rettenmaier said of the effort. "I'm definitely better when I'm pulling a lot, so Zane is a good about just letting me have free reign and hyping me up."

Rettenmaier and Navratil will face No. 3 seeds Matt Wright/Federico Staksrud in Friday's quarterfinal round.

5:00 p.m. CT: Jansen/Khlif avoid collapse against David/Ignatowich

Lea Jansen/Noe Khlif came away with a thrilling 7-11, 11-6, 12-10 victory over No. 6 seeds Vivienne David/James Ignatowich in a battle of first-time partnerships.

The No. 17 seeds jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the deciding game, but David/Ignatowich brought it all the way back to 8-8. The dueling tandems continued to trade blows until Jansen/Khlif converted their fifth match point to secure the victory.

Jansen says the key for her and Khlif down the stretch was trusting their shots.

"We knew we just wanted to play our game and try and go for it," she mentioned. "We got a little tentative on our match points, and at 10-10, we just wanted to go out swinging, and it worked."

Jansen had nothing but praise for Khlif, who has been making a name for himself in pro pickleball throughout the latter half of 2024.

"I think it's his maturity and his energy," she explained. "He's always there with you, and for a mixed partner, that's actually huge that he wants to be out there on court with you."

Jansen/Khlif will face No. 5 seeds Etta Wright/Christian Alshon on Friday with a spot in the semifinals on the line.

3:40 p.m. CT: Parenteau, Newman outduel Mag. Brascia, McGuffin in three games

Catherine Parenteau/Riley Newman are into the mixed doubles quarterfinals after an 11-4, 8-11, 11-6 victory over No. 11 seeds Maggie Brascia/Tyson McGuffin

"I've been watching Jack the whole year. I was very excited to play him," he said. "I've seen that he has a big forehand and a good passing shot, so I chose to stay back a lot of the time, find his backhand slowly, and go to the net whenever I had the chance."
