The PPA Tour's Rate Championships presented by Skechers continues with main draw men's and women's doubles action on Saturday.

3:55 p.m. PDT: Wang and Buckner, Kawamoto sisters set quarterfinal clash

The pairings of Brooke Buckner and Zoey Wang and Jade and Jackie Kawamoto will face off in the women's doubles quarterfinals after tense three-game victories in the Round of 16.

Buckner and Wang picked up an impressive victory over No. 3 seeds Etta Wright and Meghan Dizon and are now one win away from making their first PPA semifinal as a partnership.

Not to be outdone, the Kawamoto sisters overcame a 5-9 Game 3 deficit and saved one match point to eke out a 5-11, 11-9, 12-10 victory over No. 10 seeds Jorja Johnson and Mari Humberg.

The two teams will next face each other with a spot in the semifinals on the line.

3:20 p.m. PDT: Todd, David battle past Brascia sisters to make quarters

Parris Todd and Vivienne David avenged their previous loss to Mary and Maggie Brascia with an 11-3, 11-4 victory over the No. 12 seeds on Saturday.

It was an impressive victory from the No. 7 seeds, highlighted by their ability to play straight up and have both players play both sides.

It was especially interesting to see David shine on the left, given that she is known more for her ability on the right side.

“There’s definitely a learning curve [playing the left] but being able to play straight up is a huge benefit,” she explained. “I’ve definitely been putting work into that, and I’m just happy to finally be able to do it in tournaments.”

Todd and David will face No. 4 seeds Lea Jansen and Lucy Kovalova next.

2:50 p.m. PDT: Johnson, Frazier survive against Duong, Klinger in three-game thriller

JW Johnson and Dylan Frazier came through their Round of 16 bout against Quang Duong and CJ Klinger with a hard-earned 7-11, 11-3, 11-9 victory.

Game 3 was especially tight, as the No. 2 seeds saw a 7-2 lead turn into a 7-9 deficit over the course of just a few minutes.

They held their nerve from there, though, and went on to score the final four points of the match to make the quarterfinals.

Johnson and Frazier—who are looking to make their first championship Sunday appearance since August—will take on No. 9 seeds Connor Garnett and Tyler Loong with a spot in the semifinals on the line.

2:25 p.m. PDT: Garnett and Loong, Alshon and Patriquin surge into quarters

The pairings of Connor Garnett and Tyler Loong and Christian Alshon and Hayden Patriquin battled to make the men's doubles quarterfinals in Las Vegas with three-game victories. 

Both teams rallied to win after dropping the first game. 

Garnett and Loong did so against No. 5 seeds Tyson McGuffin and Jaume Martinez Vich, coming away with a 3-11, 11-5, 11-8 victory.

Alshon and Patriquin then took down No. 18 seeds Daniel de la Rosa and Brandon French by an 8-11, 11-2, 11-6 score line. 

This victory—their second of the day in which the No. 6 seeds lost the opening game—sets up a tantalizing quarterfinal matchup against No. 3 seeds Federico Staksrud and Matt Wright.

1:30 p.m. PDT: Erokhina, Maddox outlast Walker sisters in three games

Genie Erokhina and Christine Maddox booked their spots in the women's doubles Round of 16 with an 11-7, 3-11, 11-6 victory over No. 16 seeds Alex and Angie Walker. 

The third game was tight into the late moments, until the No. 19 seeds scored four points in a row to close out the victory.

The road doesn't get any easier for Erokhina and Maddox, as they will next face top seeds Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau.

11:45 a.m. PDT: Alshon, Patriquin overcome slow start to move past Freeman, Fu

Christian Alshon and Hayden Patriquin are moving on after a 2-11, 11-0, 11-6 victory over No. 33 seeds Max Freeman and Ryan Fu. 

The No. 6 seeds—who are one of the favorites to medal in Las Vegas—came out cold and shockingly dropped the first game, but they found their form soon after and took the next two games handily in an effort that included an 11-0 pickle in Game 2.

In the Round of 16, Alshon and Patriquin will face the winner of the match pitting No. 11 seeds Zane Navratil and Travis Rettenmaier against No. 18 seeds Daniel de la Rosa and Brandon French.

11:00 a.m. PDT: Qualifiers Losbergs, Litvinov stun Sock, Shick in three games

Mikus Losbergs and David Litvinov started off Saturday's action with an upset victory over No. 19 seeds Jack Sock and Collin Shick.

The No. 43 seeds got the job done by an 11-6, 8-11, 11-2 score line.

They will look to keep their run going in the Round of 32 when they take on No. 10 seeds Julian Arnold and Augie Ge.

9:00 a.m. PDT: Early withdrawals from men's and women's doubles draws

Pat Smith has withdrawn from the men's doubles draw due to a back injury. He and Michael Loyd were set to play together as the No. 13 seeds. 

This means that the winner of the match pitting No. 23 seeds Donald Young and Blaine Hovenier against No. 46 seeds Andrew Pham and Kevin Pham will make the Round of 16.

In the women's doubles draw, No. 41 seeds Andrea Lord and Madison Wolfe have withdrawn. 

This means that No. 22 seeds Hannah Blatt and Lingwei Kong will advance to the Round of 32 to face No. 9 seeds Vivian Glozman and Lacy Schneemann.
