8:00 p.m. ET: Waters, Parenteau overpower Black, Jones in two games

Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau continued their quest for their twelfth title of the year with an 11-3, 12-10 victory over No. 5 seeds Hurricane Tyra Black and Allyce Jones

It looked like it would be just another two-game triumph for the top seeds when they got up 7-2 in the second game, but a six-point run allowed Black and Jones to gain an 8-7 advantage and threaten to bring on a decider.

That run was brought on by impressive scrambling and athleticism from the No. 5 seeds, something that both players are known for.

After a timeout at 7-8, though, Waters and Parenteau were able to regain the advantage and eventually close out the match a few minutes later.

Parenteau was especially impressed by the defensive prowess of Black and Jones.

"We felt like we were winning the rallies, but the balls just kept coming back," she mentioned. “We felt like we had to play many more balls than usual. They were playing unbelievable pickleball, and the second game was fun to be a part of.”

The top seeds will face Callie Smith and Lucy Kovalova on Saturday with a spot in the women’s doubles final on the line.

7:15 p.m. ET: Johns bros overcome slow start to move past Daescu, Tardio

It looked like Ben and Collin Johns might be in trouble after dropping the first game of their quarterfinal matchup against Andrei Daescu and Gabe Tardio, but that proved to be inconsequential when all was said and done.

The No. 2 seeds stormed back to take the next two games and earn a 5-11, 11-6, 11-3 victory over the No. 6 seeds book their spot in the men's doubles semifinals.

B. Johns—who has been dealing with an ankle injury since Wednesday—looked to be a lot closer to his normal self down the stretch.

That should give the brothers plenty of confidence heading into their next bout against Christian Alshon and Riley Newman.

6:50 p.m. ET: Smith, Kovalova outlast Pisnik, David in three games

Callie Smith and Lucy Kovalova are into the women's doubles semifinals, but they sure had to work for their latest triumph.

The No. 4 seeds came away with an 11-6, 2-11, 11-6 victory over No. 6 seeds Tina Pisnik and Vivienne David in a match that lasted over an hour.

It looked like Pisnik and David had the momentum on their side after comfortably taking the second game, but Smith and Kovalova got right back to business and jumped out to a 10-1 lead in Game 3 before eventually clinching the victory at the third time of asking.

They will face the winner of the match pitting Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau against Allyce Jones and Hurricane Tyra Black in the semifinals.

5:15 p.m. ET: Johnson siblings down Pisnik, Bar to make mixed semis

Jorja and JW Johnson booked their spots in the mixed doubles semifinals with an 11-6, 11-8 victory over No. 6 seeds Tina Pisnik and Dekel Bar

This is the second consecutive tournament where the siblings have faced off against Pisnik and Bar in the quarters, but Friday's bout was much less complicated than their come-from-behind three-game victory in Las Vegas.

They will face No. 1 seeds Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns—who eased past Rachel Rohrabacher and Federico Staksrud earlier—in Saturday’s semifinal round.

4:15 p.m. ET: Schneemann, Jk. Kawamoto continue run in women's doubles

Lacy Schneemann and Jackie Kawamoto continued their strong form in Atlanta with an 11-8, 11-4 victory over No. 3 seeds Etta Wright and Meghan Dizon

The first-time partnership is now into the semifinals, where a match against either Anna Bright and Rachel Rohrabacher or Mary and Maggie Brascia awaits.

Schneemann is having an especially strong tournament in the Georgia capital; she and Tyson McGuffin defeated No. 8 seeds Jessie Irvine and Gabe Tardio earlier Friday afternoon to make the mixed doubles semifinals.

3:25 p.m. ET: Garnett overcomes injured Y. Johnson, sets semis clash with Staksrud

Connor Garnett is through to the men’s singles semifinals after a 6-11, 11-3, 11-3 victory over No. 18 seed Yates Johnson.

Johnson came out and impressively took Game 1, but he appeared to pull something in his abdominal/groin area at the end of that first game.

When he took the court in Game 2 after a medical timeout, it was painfully apparent that Johnson was unable to move at close to his normal level.

Despite Johnson displaying admirable grit and hitting some impressive shots while hindered, Garnett won the next two games with relative ease to advance.

The No. 3 seed spoke on the challenge of competing against an injured opponent.

“You’ve just got to play your game,” he explained. “Yates, even without moving as well as he usually does, can ball strike like anyone and hit some amazing shots, so you’ve just got to keep going for it and trust your game.”

Garnett will face top-seeded Federico Staksrud for a spot in the final.

2:50 p.m. ET: Schneemann, McGuffin upset Irvine, Tardio to advance

The No. 14 seeds Lacy Schneemann and Tyson McGuffin defeated the No. 8 seeds  Jessie Irvine and Gabe Tardio 11-6, 11-5 to reach the mixed doubles semifinals.

This is the second consecutive notable victory for Schneemann and McGuffin, who also defeated No. 2 seeds Anna Bright and James Ignatowich on Thursday.

They will face the winner of the match pitting Catherine Parenteau and Christian Alshon against Milan Rane and Jaume Martinez Vich in the semifinals.

2:15 p.m. ET: Jansen defeats Christian, will face Todd in semi-finals

No. 2 Lea Jansen beat No. 6 Kaitlyn Christian 11-4, 1-11, 11-8 in a hard-fought affair.

Jansen will face No. 7 Parris Todd in the semi-finals on Friday.

"It's kind of an "OG" matchup, which is nice to see since the young guns have kind of been coming in. Parris is a great player. She's super dangerous on both sides," said Jansen. "I know with Parris, even if I'm up 10-0 or 11-0, it's going to be a battle."

2:10 p.m. ET: Johnson bests Beasley, heading to semis

After dropping the first game, No. 20 Hunter Johnson managed to right the ship against No. 22 Naveen Beasley to ultimately claim a 9-11, 11-2, 11-8 victory.

Johnson will face No. 11 JW Johnson in the semi-finals on Friday.

1:25 p.m. ET: Buckner will face Waters in semi-finals after beating Padegimaite

No. 3 Brooke Buckner needed just 23 minutes to defeat No. 10 Lina Padegimaite by a score of 11-5, 11-2 to advance to the semi-finals.

A matchup with top seed Anna Leigh Waters awaits on Friday.

Buckner has three women's singles titles on the PPA Tour this season.

1:15 p.m. ET: Staksrud survives notable challenge from Tardio

Top seed Federico Staksrud advanced to the semi-finals with an 11-9, 9-11, 11-6 victory over No. 21 Gabe Tardio.

The back-and-forth contest featured some outstanding pickleball from start to finish.

Tardio, 18, was actually down 9-2 in the second game, before fighting back to force a third and deciding stanza.

"I knew it was going to be brutal when I saw Gabe was on my side of the draw. I was hoping that someone would take him out for me," said Staksrud with a laugh. "I knew it was going to be a fun match. He has like five different levels that he can bring. Level 1, he looks like he started playing pickleball two days ago, and Level 5, he could be the number one singles player in the world. He brought his "A" game today."

12:50 p.m. ET: Johnson outlasts Goldin in three-game fight

No. 11 JW Johnson went the distance to oust No. 50 Grayson Goldin from the singles draw and advance to the semi-finals in the process.

The 46-minute contest ended 12-10, 6-11, 11-5 in Johnson's favor.

Goldin's singles run in Atlanta included a victory over second-seeded Ben Johns on Thursday after the star pickler was forced to withdraw from the match following the opening game due to a right ankle injury.

12:15 p.m. ET: Todd too much for Brascia, heading to semis

No. 7 Parris Todd didn't give No. 4 Mary Brascia anything to work with during their head-to-head matchup indoors.

Todd secured an 11-1, 11-2 victory to cruise into the singles semi-finals.

It was a solid performance from the Californian, who defeated No. 11 Kate Fahey in a three-game battle on Thursday in the Round of 16.

12:05 p.m. ET: Waters punches ticket to semi-finals with victory over Devidze

It was just another day at the office for top seed Anna Leigh Waters in singles.

Waters coasted past No. 5 Salome Devidze 11-0, 11-6 to start the day.

The 17-year-old advanced to the semi-finals with the triumph.

"It's kind of cool to have some revenge, go out there, really want to win and maybe take a little pressure off yourself because she did beat me earlier in the year," said Waters. "She's a great player. You can't underestimate her. That's one reason I did lose to her earlier in the year, because I underestimated her a little bit too much. She came out here ripping balls. You've really got to be consistent and put some pace back into your ball because of how hard she hits it. If you just kind of swing your normal swing, the ball isn't going to go anywhere. She definitely puts a lot of pressure on you, and you've got to play really well to beat her."
