Carolina drops Collin Johns in biggest move of MLP Bench Player Replacement Period
The Carolina Hogs, Texas Ranchers, Orlando Squeeze, and New York Hustlers and all made moves during Tuesday’s bench player replacement period.
I’ll go team-by-team and explain each move in detail.
Carolina Hogs (2-12, 7 pts)
The Hogs made the biggest move of the day, waiving Collin Johns and adding Martin Emmrich.
This isn’t too big of a surprise, especially considering the fact the Hogs designated Brandon French as their second starting male last week, which gave every other Premier level team the opportunity to claim Johns during Monday’s waiver period.
He went unclaimed and now finds himself off a Premier level roster.
Johns, like every other UPA-signed player not currently on an MLP team, will be available to be claimed during the Challenger level waiver period on Wednesday.
Here is Carolina’s updated roster: Ben Johns, Roscoe Bellamy, Martin Emmrich, Kaitlyn Christian, Tammy Emmrich, Liz Truluck
Texas Ranchers (8-6, 27pts)
The Ranchers continued to stay busy during the season's final Premier level waiver period, adding Wyatt Stone and waiving Rafa Hewett.
Last week, they traded Michael Loyd to the California Black Bears in exchange for Hewett, and yesterday they traded Helena Jansen to the New York Hustlers to acquire Felicity Di Laura.
Stone was taken tenth overall in the Challenger level free agency draft by the Bay Area Breakers before being traded to the Dallas Flash and eventually being replaced by Ivan Jakovljevic.
Now, he’s the Ranchers’ final waiver pickup going into the second half of the regular season.
Hewett, like the aforementioned Johns, will be available to be claimed by a Challenger level team during Wednesday’s waiver period.
Here is the Ranchers’ updated roster: Christian Alshon, Eric Oncins, Wyatt Stone, Etta Tuionetoa, Tina Pisnik, Felicity Di Laura
Orlando Squeeze (10-5, 28pts) and New York Hustlers (3-10, 8pts)
Orlando put Tom Evans on the Restricted List and added Grayson Goldin.
New York put Helena Spiridis on the Restricted List and added Luana Stanciu.
MLP created the Restricted List, which teams can only use for circumstances outside of team and player control.
In this case, Evans and Spiridis (who are both from Australia) have been advised by the UPA not to travel back to the U.S. from Australia until their P1 visas are fully approved.
Until then, both Orlando and New York can add a player to serve as a substitute third player (Goldin for Orlando, Stanciu for New York). Both Evans and Spiridis will remain on their respective teams’ rosters, but they will not count as active members of the roster while on the Restricted List.
When Evans and Spiridis are able to get back to the U.S, they will regain their active status on their respective teams, and Stanciu and Goldin will be immediately dropped.
Here is Orlando's updated roster: Federico Staksrud, Dylan Frazier, Tom Evans*, Grayson Goldin, Lacy Schneemann, Samantha Parker, Alli Phillips
Here is New York's updated roster: Zane Ford, Donald Young, Stephen Madonia, Dominique Schaefer, Helena Jansen, Helena Spiridis*, Luana Stanciu
